New Mexico Republicans have been left behind in the monumental shift in the political landscape. Before Bill Richardson, New Mexicans believed Democrats cared about the people of New Mexico, and Republicans cared about their agenda.
Richardson removed the focus from solely for the people to what is suitable for Richardson is good for the people. Suzanna Martinez focused on balancing the budget, which is good for the people. Michelle Lujan Grisham changed the focus from Richardson to the agenda is good for the people. In 2016, Donald Trump won on what is important to the people is good for the people (populist).
In New Mexico, the Democratic Party (the Progressives) focuses on its agenda, and the Republican Party focuses on its agenda. Meanwhile, the hardworking people of New Mexico seek a political party that is focused on what is important to them and good for them. They want to know, “Who cares about my family and me?” “So far, that question has been unanswered by the NM Democratic and Republican Leadership.
Donald Trump, the “Art of the Deal,” and Casino Mogul have transformed campaigns. Phone banks, yard signs, mailers, and media commercials have been replaced with text messaging, social media, digital advertising, and earned media. Meanwhile, in New Mexico, we continue with incremental improvements in voter outreach, which were successful with Suzzanna Martinez in 2010.
“Trump has shown Republicans how to get back in the game. There was so much fluidity and cross-over voting with this electorate, with gender and ethnicity breaking usual patterns. The party now needs a new face for Governor in ’26. That means no Susana Martinez or Nella Domenici or the forces associated with them, but someone from the outside, someone new and exciting who can cobble together the coalition that Trump did and build on it.” (Greg Payne's comment in Joe Monohan 112.06.2024)
The March to turn our state around begins before the sun sets on December 7.
1) Steve Pearce, Suzana Martinez, and all of New Mexico’s Republicans are united in defeating the Santa Fe Democrats, who have trampled on the Good People of New Mexico.
2) The Republican Party of New Mexico is welcoming to the Hard-Working People of New Mexico. Whether you are Young or Old, Protestant or Catholic, Native American or Not, you have a home in the Republican Party.
3) We are going to use every arrow in our quiver to put Republicans in office and Democrats on the street, whether that is a handshake at the front door or a digital post opened in their living room. We will support our candidates on the ground, in cyberspace, or in the courtroom (such as defending District 6 citizens' right to be represented by Paul Spencer).
