RPNM Absent in NM House Districts 6 & 44 Fight
What will it take for the RPNM to stand up for New Mexico's Republicans?
The crowd went wild when their warrior, Donald Trump, walked down the stairs of Trump One with “Rest in Peace” (retired MMA fighter, The Undertaker’s theme song) played. Donald Trump was their hero; he was fighting for them, and they wanted New Mexico to know Donald Trump was in their corner.
Days before the RPNM State Convention, I heard the DPNM leaders were meeting behind closed doors to replace Democrat Eliseo Alcon with Democrat Harry Garcia. Eliseo Alcon won the November 6, 2024, election, Alcon did not submit a letter of resignation, Garcia did not reside in the district, and Republican Paul Spenser had a legal path to be seated in the NM Legislature as Representative to House District 6. That is why when I spoke to the RPNM State Delegates, my priority was ensuring the voter’s choice of Republican Paul Spenser was honored.
Almost a month after the RPNM State Convention and two months after the election, House District 6 is still unsettled. Cibola County Commissioner voted to recommend that Harry Garcia be appointed to Governor Michelle Lujan-Grisham. However, McKinley County Commissioners rejected Harry Garcia's recommendation. Since House District 6 represents both counties, both counties must recommend the same individual. Thus, DPNM, Michelle Lujan Grisham, and Maggie Toulouse Oliver's backroom deal is blocked.
Meanwhile, Spenser's request for assistance from the RPNM to mount a legal challenge to the DPNM, MLG, and MTO stealing the seat from the voters of House District 6 has gone unanswered. Spenser is seeking contributions to fund his legal battle, which is surprising since hundreds of thousands of dollars were raised for the NM Senate and House campaigns (but not for Spenser’s campaign). Equally astonishing is his calls to republican attorneys have gone unanswered, but it is not surprising the RPNM Voter Integrity Advocates have been silent since they were quiet over the voting irregularities at the RPNM State Convention (votes collected before candidate speeches).
Paul Spenser is alone in challenging Michelle Lujan-Grisham and Maggie Toulouse Oliver's election grab; the RPNM is now where to be seen.
Ali Ennenga, candidate of House District 44, filed a 63-page complaint with the courts on December 20, 2024. Ennenga’s concern is that the sum of the subtotal votes does not equal the total votes recorded, disqualifying ballots due to irregularities of same-day registrations and mishandling of provisional ballots.
The Sandoval County Board of Election reported to the Sandoval County Commissioners that there were difficulties in conducting the election, challenges in the vote tallying, and discrepancies. Still, it stated only one contested race for House District 57. With imperfect reports, county commissioners Bruch, Meek, Heil, and Jones approved the election, and Block rejected it. Would the commissioners have voted to reject the election results if they had known more contested races existed?
Ali Ennenga is alone in challenging the election results; the RPNM is now where to be seen.
In 2018, my US Senate campaign manager informed the RPNM that we intended to protest the Libertarian (Aubrey Dunn) candidates' signatures to get on the ballot. The RPNM stated they would file the protest. A week before the protest deadline, they changed their mind. A volunteer reviewed Dunn’s signatures and discovered and documented enough invalid signatures to disqualify him. Our DC attorney (we could not find a local republican attorney to represent our campaign) wrote up our protest, but we needed a local attorney to file the motion. The RPNM committed to our campaign manager that the RPNM would file the protest. As I walked out of the NRSC offices in DC at 5:00 pm, I received a call; the RPNM declined to submit the protest. By 11:00 pm, I found an attorney to submit the protest. At 1:30 am, the attorney withdrew from his commitment because he was informed by a partner he had a conflict.
I have been President of Mick Rich Contractors for over forty years. During that time, our mid-sized construction company has punched well above its weight. We have built projects that other companies shied away from and projects that were nationally and internationally recognized. We accomplished those feats by being one unified team, ensuring our team had the support they needed to be successful, and we all knew we had each other’s backs. My role was the backstop; nothing got past me (it has been said that there is no better person in your corner than Mick Rich).
The hardworking people of this nation and the National Republican Party found their warrior, Donald Trump. The hardworking people of New Mexico have yet to find their Donald Trump, who will defend them and stand for what is right.
I’m sorry, but the RPNM will not support New Mexico Republicans. It is up to us. Contact Paul Spenser (Paul4District6NM@gmail.com) and Ali Ennenga (AliForNM@gmail.com) and ask them how you can help.
Mick, this report regarding current and past actions of the RPNM is troubling. Are you. And the RONM at odds with each other? If so, why?
